The Hopkins Police Department uses qualified volunteers to create efficiencies for the department and to improve outreach services to the community. The department has several different capacities to volunteer in depending on your needs and abilities.
The internship program is intended for college students who are currently enrolled in a law enforcement or criminal justice degree program. Interns are non-uniformed and are exposed to every division of the police department during the internship period, which usually runs from May to August.
Volunteers come from all backgrounds. Whether you’re working toward a degree in law enforcement or enjoying retirement, there’s an opportunity for you! Volunteers assist with community outreach events and other programs facilitated by the department. Volunteers can also assist with various clerical duties within the police department.
