Hopkins Police - Scam/Fraud Advisory

Hopkins Police would like to advice all rental property owners and managers to keep an eye out for fraudulent rental applications coming through recently and in the near future.

One larger rental community in Hopkins was diligent in their screening of online applications and detected someone trying to use various names with fraudulent IDs and possibly even stolen credit cards to obtain rental housing under false pretenses. Criminals will often attempt these types of schemes to facilitate various types of illegal activity. It is advised to reach out to any professional screening companies you work with to share this information and ask how they plan to protect your property from these types of fraud.

Please feel free to contact Anne Buck of the Hopkins Police if you have questions, concerns or additional information to share with investigators via email at: abuck@hopkinsmn.com or call 952-548-6407.

Thank you for all you do to keep the community safe!
