Community Photo Contest Begins September 9Calling all photographers! The City of Hopkins 2024 Photo Contest opens Monday, September 9, and will take submissions through Sunday, September 22. The finalists will be posted to the City's Facebook page where voting will take place Wednesday, September 25 through Wednesday, October 2. Winning photos will be displayed along the Artery, featured in the City's Annual Report, City publications, and posted to the City’s website and social media accounts. Studio West Art Tour is September 14, 15The Friends of the Hopkins Center for the Arts is excited to present Studio West Art Tour, an early autumn ramble through the art studios and creative spaces of Minneapolis’ western metropolitan communities on September 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and September 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour-goers will enjoy a self-guided experience exploring new territories of art-making, discovering both fresh talent and the latest work by established favorites. 33 artists will be participating, with 10 new artists included this year, displaying their talent at 12 sites in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Deephaven, and Wayzata. Bulk Item Drop-Off Event is September 27, 28Broken grill taking up space in the garage? Old microwave in the basement you need to toss? The fall bulk drop-off event for all City of Hopkins residents is Friday, September 27, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to noon. For $20, plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truck load). Additional appliances are $20, plus taxes, each. Now Hiring: Depot Facilities AttendantThe City of Hopkins is seeking a Facilities Attendant at the Hopkins Depot, which is reopening after being closed for an extended period of time. Job duties include greeting and interacting with customers to provide an excellent customer experience; making coffee and handling sales of goods; maintaining product displays, operating a POS system, event set-up and take down; maintenance and cleaning of the building; and snow removal.
