State of the City is January 31

The 2024 City of Hopkins State of the City event is less than two weeks away! Join the Hopkins City Council and City staff on Wednesday, January 31, at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, to learn about local government issues and city initiatives of interest to you as a resident or business owner.

Before the main event, "Treat Yo Self!" at a reception featuring a sampling of appetizers courtesy of local Hopkins restaurants. Attendees are asked to bring a monetary donation or non-perishable food item for the local ICA food shelf.

The reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., with the State of the City program beginning at 6 p.m.


Hennepin County's Plastic-Free Challenge Begins February 1

Plastics are problematic for many reasons. They create waste and litter, contribute to climate change, pollute our water, harm wildlife, and have largely unknown health impacts for us. Be part of the solution to reduce waste, protect water and wildlife, address climate change, and look after the health of ourselves and future generations by joining the Hennepin County Plastic-Free Challenge and committing to actions that help create a plastic-free world. Kids' Fest is February 4

Everyone’s family favorite winter event, Kids’ Fest, returns Sunday, February 4, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Minnetonka Community. Hosted by Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services, this free event features a variety of fun winter activities, including horse-drawn trolley rides, ice sculptures, face painting, crafts and more. Kids dog sled rides have been canceled due to current weather conditions. Concessions will be available for purchase. The event includes both indoor and outdoor activities, so dress accordingly. Take the Walk Hopkins Challenge

Did you know that if you walked the length of every public street in Hopkins you would have walked 53 miles? The City of Hopkins invites you to get to know the streets of your city by participating in the 2023 Walk Hopkins Challenge. Here's how it works:

  1. Print the maps or pick up a copy at City Hall.
  2. Plan your routes, walk and track your progress all year long.
  3. Use the #WalkHopkins hashtag along the way when posting to social media.
  4. When finished, turn in your maps with your contact information via email to Kelsey Baumann or in-person at City Hall by December 31, 2024 at 12 p.m.

Finishers will see their names on the City’s website and be entered in a drawing to win a prize. Find more information and print the Walk Hopkins Challenge maps.
