The Charter Commission is an independent body with members appointed by the Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District. The commission is tasked to periodically review and suggest resolutions regarding issues related to the Charter. If you are interested in serving, apply online by January 5, 2024. FREE HOLIDAY TREE PICK-UP IS WEEK OF JANUARY 8Holiday trees will be picked up curbside, free of charge for Hopkins residential garbage customers the week of January 8. Trees will be picked up on your garbage day, subject to change due to the weather. Lay trees in the boulevard, parallel with the street, and at least five feet from overhead wires, trees, fences, garbage carts and parked cars. Trees must be free of all ornaments, plastic bags and metal. You do not need to call to schedule this service.

Save the Date: State of the City is January 31The 2024 State of the City returns to the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Wednesday, January 31. A reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a presentation in the theater. The State of the City event offers community members and business owners the opportunity to learn more about the workings of the City in a relaxed setting. BROKEN LIGHTS? DON'T TOSS THEM!Putting away all your holiday decorations for the season? If you come across string lights and extension cords that are no longer usable, finding a specialized recycling place for broken and unusable string lights is a much better choice than throwing them in the garbage. Hennepin County has two drop-off facilities that accept these items for free, including one in Bloomington. Find drop-off locations and hours. If you're looking to earn a little money for your string lights and cords, scrap metal places like Express Metals in Hopkins is another great option for recycling those items.
