Rate Increases Take Effect January 1

In order to cover current operating costs and adequately fund capital projects, the City
Council adopted rate increases for water, sanitary sewer, refuse and recycling. The new rates are effective on January 1 and will first appear on utility bills received in February. Storm sewer fees remain the same. View the rate increases here.

Organics Bingo Challenge Coming January 10

Curbside organics recycling is coming to Hopkins January 1. To help make this transition a fun learning experience, residents are invited to participate in an Organics Recycling Bingo Challenge, beginning January 10. Compete with friends and family to reduce waste and manage organics in ways that encourage behavior change. Winners will be entered into a drawing to win three boxes of BPI bags. Free Holiday Tree Pick-Up is Week of January 10

Holiday trees will be picked up curbside, free of charge for Hopkins residential garbage customers the week of January 10. Trees will be picked up on your garbage day, subject to change due to the weather. Lay trees in the boulevard, parallel with the street, and at least five feet from overhead wires, trees, fences, garbage carts and parked cars. Trees must be free of all ornaments, plastic bags and metal. You do not need to call to schedule this service.

One-Bedroom Public Housing Waiting List Opens
January 10

The Hopkins Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) will be accepting applications online for its Public Housing waiting list beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 10, until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12. Applications must be submitted online between 8 a.m. on January 10, and 4 p.m. on January 12. Applications will not be available in the HRA office or by phone, and fax requests will not be accepted.
