Solar-for-Vouchers Program

Landlords can now reduce their operating costs through the Metropolitan Council's "Solar-for-Vouchers" program. The Council is piloting this technical assistance program to assist property owners to install solar panels at highly competitive prices. The pilot program offers lower installation costs through group purchasing and facilitates access to solar developers solicited through a competitive RFQ process. 

The “Solar-for-Vouchers” program will provide expert knowledge on solar technologies, contract terms, and financing options. Program participants will also take advantage of a streamlined, transparent, and cohort-based solar installation process, which is simplified through the Council’s technical assistance.

Program participation requires renting, at market rate, a limited number of units to low-income households through the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.
